Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

Consort Healthcare was awarded the £209 million contract for the new Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in August 1998.

The project to build the new hospital involved the closing of four existing sites and consolidating a large proportion of the facilities on one new greenfield site.

Full construction was completed on time in December 2002, with a phased opening for patient transfer completed by Easter 2003.

The 25 year concession includes the maintenance of the hospital and the provision of non-clinical services which are subcontracted to Haden BML, a facilities management company in the Balfour Beatty Group.

Consort were incredibly helpful to us all; especially to me, as a mananger on a brand new site. Any problem we had, went to Consort and they sorted it out.
