Birmingham New Hospitals Projects

Consort Healthcare was appointed preferred bidder on the £521 million Birmingham New Hospitals project in January 2004.

The 35 year concession, is first new general hospital in Birmingham for 70 years.

It will deliver a new 1249-bedded acute inpatient facility, a 137-bedded specialist psychiatric hospital and teaching facility and separate 45-bedded and 21-bedded mental health locality facilities.

The Royal Centre for Defence Medicine will form an integral part of the new hospital development and will include training and administrative accommodation.

The contract includes the provision of non-clinical services.
